World Kannada Conference from Dec 15

Dubai, Dec 13: The two-day Viswa Kannada Samskruthi Sammelana (World Kannada Conference), opening in the Bahraini capital of Manama on Friday, is set to showcase the state's culture and history to mark the 50th anniversary of Karnataka's formation.

The organisers said a 70-member delegation comprising top political and religious leaders, authors, actors, singers, television stars and musicians from Karnataka will attend the event.

Spiritual leader Sri Sri Keshavananda Bharathi Swamiji of the Edneer Mutt in Kasargod will be the Chief Guest.

More than 100 Kannadigas from the Gulf countries are also expected to attend the conference, they said.
