Ventilator of highly-sensitive Gyanwapi mosque collapses

Varanasi, Dec 13 (UNI) A dilapidated ventilator of the Gyanwapi mosque located in the highly-sensitive Kashi Vishwanath-Gyanwapi complex collapsed here early today.

Complex security sources said that the dilapidated ventilator on the southern wall of the mosque collapsed, but no one was hurt.

Though at the behest of Anjuman Intezamia Masajid (AIM), body which looks after maintenance of the mosques in the city, the whitewashing and repair work was done in the past but the ventilator was left unattended.

Senior administrative and police officials reached the complex and repair work was started shortly.

AIM secretary S M Yasin said the repair of the damaged portion will be completed by Thursday next.
