Vala becomes Gujarat Finance minister

Gandhinagar, Dec 13 (UNI) Chief Minister Narendra Modi today gave Finance portfolio to senior BJP leader Vajubhai Vala, who was sworn in this morning.

The Finance portfolio was so far under Mr Modi and the budget for 2006-07 was passed under the Chief Minister's supervision.

Mr Vala, who represents Rajkot city in the Assembly holds a record for presenting the State budget eleven times in succession. He had quit the ministry a year ago to become the State BJP chief.

He was expected to be back in the Cabinet after Mr Purushottom Rupala replaced him as the Gujarat BJP President recently.
