TTD plans to hand over gold missing case to CID
Tirupati, Dec 13 (UNI) The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) is likely to hand over the case of the missing Rs 20 lakh gold dollars to the State CID, a TTD official said here today.
Based on allegations that 300 gold dollars, each weighing five grams and 10 grams, were missing from the selling counter inside the Sri Venkateswara Temple-- which came to light recently-- the TTD executive officer had ordered an internal inquiry by Chief Vigilance and Security Officer Hari Kumar.
Later, the case was handed over to crime branch police at Tirumala for further investigation.
As a precautionary measure, the management had suspended a clerk Venkatachalapathi, the incharge of the counter.
The suspect, Venkatachallapathi, who was admitted to S V R Ruia Hospital with a complaint of chest pain, claimed that former treasury-in-charge Seshadri and other officials were well aware of how the dollars went missing.
Concerned over the case, the TTD management is planning to handover the case to CID, the official added.
