Summons issued to Salman Khan
Mumbai, Dec 13 (UNI) City Crime Branch officials today issued summons to Bollywood actor Salman Khan for preliminary enquiries regarding his alleged nexus with the underworld, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) (Detection) D T Shinde said.
''Summons have been issued to Salman, asking him to depose before Crime Branch officials of Unit-I to testify his position regarding the accusations,'' another Crime Branch official said on condition of anonymity.
The actor, who is expected to fly to South Africa later in the evening for an outdoor schedule, is left with no option but to appear before the Crime Branch department.
Anjum Phajalani, an alleged member of the underworld don Dawood Ibrahim and Chhota Shakeel syndicate, during interrogation, admitted that the actor had slashed his fee for Hindi film 'Chori Chori Chupke Chupke', produced by Naseem Rizvi, after he had issued threats on behalf of Karachi-based gangster Shakeel.
Phajalani, along with nine others, was deplaned at the Chhatrapati Shivaji International airport here after their mysterious deportation from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) three weeks ago.
Crime Branch officals booked all of them under the stringent Maharashtra Control of Organised Crimes Act (MCOCA) and a local court remanded them to judicial custody.
Subsequently, Rizvi and diamond merchant Bharat Shah were arrested and imprisoned for their involvement in funding of the film through hawala.
