Sub Junior national gymnastics at Mohali from Dec 27
Chandigarh, Dec 13 (UNI) The Punjab Gymnastic Association (PGA) is organising the XX Sub-Junior Artistic and XVII Senior Rhythmic National Gymnastic Championships at Shivalik Public School in Mohali from December 27 to 31.
Announcing this here today, organising secretary P S Virk said 26 states and Union Territories would be competing in the five-day championship.
Mr Virk said the annual general body meeting of the Gymnastic Federation of India would be held on December 30 at Mohali. Where amendments in constitution in accordance with the guidelines of the Indian Olympic Association regarding ex-offico members would be discused.
It may be recalled that the IOA has directed the affiliated units to replace the ex-officio members with the elected office-bearers.
Meanwhile, the PGA has announced a 15-member team, including five women rhythmic gymnasts, to represent Punjab in the National meet.
The selected gymnasts are attending coaching camps in Khanna (boys), Gurdaspur (girls) and Patiala (women rhythmic).
Team: Girls: Naginder Kaur, Varinder Kaur, Navjot Kaur, Simranjit Kaur, Navneet Kaur, Parvinder Kaur, Lovely, Simmy (Gurdaspur), Promila and Sangeeta (Patiala).
Boys: Arun Sharma, Jagjit Singh, Sajandeep (Gurdaspur), Karan Chauhan, Khem Bahadur (Patiala), Sharanpreet, Kulvir Singh, Balwinder Singh, Ishaan Garg (Bathinda) and Gurpreet (Sangrur).
Women Rhythmic: Jashandeep, Kiranjeet, Dimple (Patiala), Lovleen Bala (Amritsar) and Shivani (Jalandhar).
