SL: Negotiated political settlement only solution
New Delhi, Dec 13: India is of the view that the only solution tothe ethnic problem in Sri Lanka is a negotiated political settlementacceptable to all communities, the Lok Sabha was informed today.
External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukerjee said in a written replythat the Government has emphasised to the Sri Lankan Government theneed to make all possible efforts to strengthen the ceasefire and torevive the political dialogue in order to move the peace processforward.
There have been hostilities between the Sri Lankan armed forcesand the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) since the begining ofthis year, which have resulted in serious loss of lives including thatof Tamil Civilians, Mr Mukerjee added.
