Rupee opens high at 44.80/81 against per USD

Mumbai, Dec 13 (UNI) The Rupee today opened higher by three paise and was quoted at Rs 44.80/81 against the US dollar as compared to its previous close of Rs 44.83/84 per USD, on lack of fresh dollar demand by foreign and nationalised banks.

Later, the domestic currency rose at Rs 44.8850/64 during the mid-morning session, due to short-covering by local bankers.

The Rupee went lower by two paise at Rs 44.85/86 per USD from its previous close, due to some purchased of the dollar by foreign and local banks, traders said.
