Prime Minister to visit Punjab on Dec 19
Jalandhar, Dec 13: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh will visit Punjab on December 19 to participate in a number of programmes, Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh said today.
Talking to reporters, Capt Singh said the Prime Minister will arrive at Amritsar on December 19 to hand over the keys of the historic Govidgarh Fort to the civil administration. The fort is presently in the Army's possession.
Besides this, the Prime Minister would also lay foundation stone for Jawahar Lal Nehru Urban Renewable Energy project for strengthening urban inftrastructure of Amritsar.
During his visit, the Prime Minister is scheduled to lay the foundation stone for Ludhiana's Halwara airport upgradition project, the chief minister said.
Besides the official scheduled programme, the ruling Congress is trying to arrange a few rallies of the Prime Minister at some places including Amritsar, Ludhiana and Patiala but the programme is yet to be finalised, Capt Singh added.
