New 'definitions' of BSNL, MTNL

New Delhi, Dec 13 (UNI) New definitions were 'proposed' to Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) and Manahagar Telephone Nigam Limited (MTNL) during a debate in Rajya Sabha today on amending the Indian Telepgraph Act, 1885.

While BSNL was described as Bhai Sahab Nahi Lagega (Brother, it will never get connected), MTNL was sought to be re-christened as 'Mera Telephone Nahi Lagega' (My Telephone will never get connected).

The changes were 'proposed' by Mr Suresh Bharadwaj of the BJP during a discussion on the Indian Telegraph (Amendment) Bill, 2006, for amending the Indian Telegraph Act of 1885.

Criticising the government for poor telephone and mobile phone services in the country, said the new names would go well with the performance of the telephone services.

However, Mr Shantaram Naik (Congress) interrupted and said that instead, BSNL would be 'Bhai Sahab Nischit Lagega' (Brother, it will undoubtedly get connected).
