MRPL, IOC's refinery bag award

New Delhi, Dec 13 (UNI) Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Ltd (MRPL), a subsidiary of Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (ONGC) today bagged the Jawarharlal Nehru Centenary Award for being the best in energy performance among Indian refineries for the third consecutive year.

MRPL was also awarded with the second best award for furnance, boiler efficiency, under the Oil and Gas Conservation Awards 2006 in the same function.

Apart from this, IndianOil (IOC) refineries bagged awards in the field of energy conservation at the awards ceremony here.

IOC's Panipat, Barauni and Mathura refineries have been awarded for their efforts in energy conservation.

IOC's Panipat refinery has bagged the coveted Jawarharlal Nehru Centenary Award for energy conservation for the year 2005-06.

This award is given in two categories on the basis of annual performance of refineries in the area of energy conservation.

Panipat refinery bagged the second prize in the category for lowest energy consumption for the second year in a row which was received by Executive Director C Manoharan.

While, in the second category, IOC subsidiary CPCL got the second prize or best improvement over past best, which was received by its MD K K Acharya.

Barauni refinery has got the best for achieving lowest insulation effectiveness of heaters, furnances. In the same category Mathura refinery got the second prize.

In the second category Barauni refinery was awarded the third prize for furnane boiler efficiency.

The awards was given by Union Minister of state for Petroleum and Natural Gas Dinsha J Patel.
