MLA ends agitation after assurance from Dy CM
Nagpur, Dec 13 (UNI) An independent member of Maharashtra Legislative Assembly and his supporters, who had climbed overhead drinking water reservoirs at several places in Vidarbha demanding a better deal for farmers, ended their agitation today after an assurance from the government that a decision on their demands would be taken within a month.
State Deputy Chief Minister R R Patil assured Omprakash alias Bachchu Kadu, an independent from Achalpur in Amravati district, who led the agitating activists, here this morning that the demands would be placed before the Cabinet.
Mr Kadu had climbed onto a reservoir in Sakkardara area here yesterday demanding, among other things, complete loan waiver for farmers and a compensation of Rs 5,000 per hectare to cotton cultivators in the region. His supporters who were atop the reservoirs across Vidarbha also ended their agitation.
