Mahindra pack Shenzen home to set summit clash with Bagan

Kolkata, Dec 13 (UNI) Mahindra United sealed a date with Mohun Bagan in the final of 112th IFA Shield defeating Shenzhen Kingway 1-0 at the Salt Lake stadium here tonight.

Surkumar Singh broke the deadlock in the 79th minute when fed by Manjit Singh with a clynical thnrough the overlaping sideback scorched past the Chinese defenders and left anothr in his lurch with a body feint and sent a grounder into the first post past a diving keeper.

The Chinese team were on top initially and Wu Lei could have put them ahead in the 17th minute, but his effort was off target. Huang Feng Tao's left footer in the 19th minute found Sandip Nandy out of position but Surkumar was there to avert the danger.

Manjit Singh came close to scoring for Mahindras two minutes later, but Zhang Lei was up to the task. In the 33rd minute, James Singh's floater created a ripple in Shenzhen's defence. Xiao Dong fumbled with his clearance but recovered in time, before a lurking Manjit could do any damage.

The chinese team looked outdone by the Mahindra planning and speed and were thoroughly beaten by the Mumbai side in the end.
