Kumaraswamy promises better roads to pilgrim spots
Subramanya, Karnataka, Dec 13 (UNI) Karnataka Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy today said his government will accord priority to provide better road facilities to all pilgrim centres in Dakshina Kannada district.
Speaking after laying the foundation stone for projects worth Rs 10.40 crore, including reconstruction of 12 bridges on the State Highway between Gundya-Kulkunda and strengthening of Gundya-Kulkunda -Subramanya road here, he said that based on the number of complaints received from visiting pilgrims, the government had decided to provide better roads to all pilgrim centres, including Horanad, Dharmastala, Subramanya and Sringeri.
He also pointed out that the recent communal clash, and the murder of a BJP leader followed by police firing in Mulky in which two people were killed have brought a bad name to the district. The economic development of the district would come to a grinding halt if such incidents recurred, he warned.
The State Government was making efforts to have four-lane port connectivity between Chennai and New Mangalore Ports.
