Srinagar, Dec 13 (UNI) The Jammu and Kashmir Vigilance Organisation has initiated action against officials of the Public Health Engineering (PHE) department for misappropriation of funds.

A vigilance spokesman said officials of the PHE Shopian Division had received 368 GI pipes in November last year for use in the water supply scheme at Manloo Zawora in Shopian It was found that they had drawn bills without executing the work. The vigilance officials carried a surprise check during which records were perused and the spot inspection carried out.

The spokesman said it was revealed that no work was executed till June 30 while the payment had been drawn in March. The vigilance organisation has initiated action the officials concerned.
