Indian duo in 500m Canoe doubles finals

Doha, Dec 13 (UNI) Maisnam Sanjit Singh and Sawlabow remained the only medal hopes for India in canoe/kayak competition as the duo qualified for 500m canoe doubles event while Arambam Chingching Singh and Digvijay Singh Negi finished last in 500m kayak doubles semifinals at the Asian Games here today.

Maisnam ans Sawlabow clocked 1:59.644 to finish first in heat two, ahead of Uzbekistan's Rustam Mirzadiyarov and Maksim Kiryanov who timed 2:04.608, and booked a berth for the final tomorrow at the West Bay Lagoon.

But, Arambam and Negi clocked a disappointing 1:53.403 to finish last in the six-team semifinal which was won ny Japanese duo of Momotaro Matsushita and Naoki Onoto with a timing of 1:45.547.
