Five arrested for cheating

Chhatarpur, MP, Dec 13 (UNI) Five people have been arrested on the charge of cheating people in the name of tripling their money using the power of 'tantra-mantra', police said today.

Superintendent of Police Chanchal Shekhar said Rajju Nayak and his friends had promised to Prahlad Yadav that a 'tantrik' could triple his money.

On Prahlad's consent, Rajju, Rajjan Gupta, Pushpendra Vajpayee and Raj Dubey reached Lugasi. A demand of Rs one lakh was made from Prahlad on the promise of returning him Rs three lakh after six hours.

Initially, Prahlad provided Rs 5,000. Rikkan pretended to perform some 'puja' and asked to wrap three 'gaddis (bundles)' of Rs 50 notes in cloth.

Prahlad checked the notes as soon as the culprit left and found that it contained white paper in between four original notes of Rs 50.

After Prahlad informed police, the culprits were nabbed near Urmil river and 22 'gaddis' of Rs 50 notes and a suitcase seized from them.

A case was registered against the five accused and jeep driver Kishori Shriwas.
