EFC clears 5 PWD projects worth Rs 12.21 cr

New Delhi, Dec 13 (UNI) Expenditure Finance Committee of the Delhi government today cleared five projects worth Rs 12.21 crore by the Public Works Department.

The proposals were approved in a meeting of the EFC held under the Chairmanship of Delhi Finance and Planning Minister A K Walia.

An important project passed mained to improve the drainage system at Mahipalpur in South Delhi. It would be completed within six months, at a cost of Rs 2.38 crore.

The existing drains were insufficient to take the discharge, and were overflowing most of the time, particularly during the rainy season. This was badly affecting traffic movement from Mehrauli-Vasant Kunj road towards the Delhi-Jaipur National Highway no. 8 and the city airport and also the VIP movement on the Mahipalpur Road.

The new drainage system would not only help in curbing accidents but also facilitate smooth flow of traffic.
