Cong caution against price rise a 'self-flagellation'
New Delhi, Dec 13: Terming the Congress cautioning the UPA coalition at the Centre on price rise issue as 'ridiculous', the BJP today said the government ceased its right to continue in the administration after such an indictment.
BJP Parliamentary Party Spokesman Vijay Kumar Malhotra said that after the last disapproval of Congress, the prices of several essential commodities including rice, wheat and pulses had gone up by 30 to 40 per cent in the last three months and the wrong agricultural and economic policies pursued by the government coupled with the existence of Commodities Exchange Board had encouraged profiteering by the retailers. Cement, which was sold at Rs 170 in August, was now being sold at Rs 210 a bag.
He said he could not understand the criticism of the ruling party because it only tantamounts to 'self-flagellation' by Congress president Sonia Gandhi.
