Cong high command to finalise candidates for polls:CM

Jalandhar, Dec 13 (UNI) Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh today said the applications from the probable ruling Congress candidates will be sought at the district level but the tickets would be finalised by the party high command on recommendation from state election committee.

Talking to reporters near Banga in Nawanshahar during his Vikas Yatra, Capt Singh reiterated that some of the party MLAs might be denied tickets in the next elections. He said he had some names in his mind for changes and would take up the matter with the leadership at an appropriate time.

On the party's election preparation, Capt Singh said that three committees--campaign, manifesto and review committee would be set up soon. He said the party would contest the election on issue of development.

Expressing satisfaction over his government's achievements on the development front, the chief minister said he was satisfied and also expected good response from the people in the assembly elections.

He said that over Rs 5000 crore had been invested on various developmental projects in Punjab during the past two years. A sum of Rs 1,040 crore had been incurred on Punjab Nirman Project alone, he added saying that this was unprecedented in the history of the state.
