CM 'unfit" to continue in office: Naidu

Hyderabad, Dec 13 (UNI) Leader of the Opposition in the Andhra Pradesh Assembly N Chandrababu Naidu today said Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy was 'unfit' to hold the post in view of his alleged 'wilful violation' of the Land Reforms Act.

Talking to newspersons at the TDP Legislature party office here, soon after the House was adjourned for the day without transacting any business, Mr Naidu made it clear that the opposition would continue to stall the Assembly proceedings till the government agreed for an immediate discussion on the land issue.

The Chief Minister had no 'right' to continue in the post after his reported admission that the land held by his family members were being surrendered as they were in violation of the Act, the TDP president said.

He alleged that 618 acres of land which was surrendered were held by the Chief Minister's family members for the last 30 years and they had been heading the land assignment committee in Dr Reddy's native Kadapa district.

''It is a clear-cut violation of the law and the Chief Minister himself has confessed to the crime which will attract a jail term of five years and a fine of Rs 5,000 or both under the Act,'' he said.

Claiming that the Chief Minister had more 'benami' holdings, Mr Naidu wanted Dr Reddy to place all facts before the House. He found the Chief Minister at fault for disclosing the issue outside the House when the Assembly was in session.

Earlier, the TDP legislators led by Mr Naidu raised slogans demanding the resignation of the Chief Minister and action against him on the issue.
