Boy kidnapped for second time
Lucknow, Dec 13 (UNI) Close on the heels of the kidnapping and murder of 13-year-old Ankit in the Uttar Pradesh capital, a class VI student was kidnapped -- for the second time -- in neighbouring Sitapur district.
DIG (Lucknow Range) Subhash Singh told UNI here that Ratan Bajpai, a class VI student of Central School was kidnapped last evening from outside his house in Kotwali area. His father Uma Shanker Bajpai informed the police about the incident this morning.
The son of a lawyer, Ratan has been kidnapped for the second time. Two persons were sent to jail for the first kidnapping last year. His father alleged the second kidnapping could be an effort to influence the first case by the accused.
While one of the accused is still behind bars, the second one is out on bail.
This is the second reported kidnapping of a child in the state in the past five days.
On December 8, 13-year-old Ankit was kidnapped by some college students with the help of a 15-year-old boy, for ransom. When Ankit's parents refused to pay the Rs 5 lakh ransom, they strangled him and dumped his body in the neighbouring Barabanki district.
All the accused were arrested yesterday and have confessed to the crime.
