AP: Naxal arms, landmines, ammunition seized

Warangal (Andhra Pradesh), Dec 13: A special police team today unearthed landmines and arms and ammunition dump of the CPI (Maoist) in Mulug and Narasampet Divisions of the district.

Showing the dump to mediapersons here, DIG Ravi Gupta and Superintendent of Police Soumya Mishra said the special police teams recovered 21 landmines.

Bayapati Krishna Rao, a native of Rajupet Village, was caught between Rajupet and Sangempally with landmines while he was transporting them for use by the Maoists.

Three 8 mm rifles, two SBBL guns, a 410 musket, a brass pistol and two 9mm pistols were found in addition to 85 rounds of .303, 41 rounds of 8mm rifle, four 410 musket and 135 rounds of .12 bore rifle catridges.

As many as 1,000 detonators, three wire bundles and a plastic polythene cover were also recovered from the dump.

Mr Gupta said that the Maoist party was in deep crisis in North Telangana Region with the demoralised cadre and waning public patronage to the party. The Maosits were unable to digest these developments.

He appealed to the Maoist underground cadre to join the mainstream without any fear.

''The government is ready to extend a helping hand to all those giving up arms,'' he added.
