Akhilesh Das faction files nomination papers

Lucknow, Dec 13 (UNI) Union Minister of State for Steel Akhilesh Das led faction today filed the nomination papers of the UP Olympic Association election at the office of the Registrar Firms, Societies and Chits here today.

The other faction led by Sardar Mohd Aslam Khan registered their objections with the registrar and challenged his role in the matter.

In compliance of the Registrar's order of November 7 last, both Akhilesh Das and Sardar Aslam Khan factions were asked to resolve their long pending dispute over the control of UP Olympic Association and made the elections afresh fixing today as the date of filing of the nomination papers.

Mr Das faction filed his nomination papers for the president's post alongwith seven vice presidents, one general secretary, one treasurer, three joint secretaries and 14 working committee members.

Talking to UNI on telephone, General Secretary of the Khan's faction Munnawar Anzar said they objected the whole procedure of the Registrar as his 1960's powers got transffered to 1965 Registrar Co-operative Act, thereafter, making the amendment in it under the Sports Act, 2005. Hence, the registerar has no power to declare his faction elections of November 6 last as null and void.

Mr Anzar said they would challenge it under Right to Information Act.
