126 units sealed by MCD
New Delhi, Dec 13 (UNI) After a day's break, the sealing drive by the Municipal Corporation of Delhi resumed today with 126 commercial units sealed in the Najafgarh zone.
After suspension of sealing by the MCD yesterday due to the non-availability of police force, the corporation today sealed 126 units on Old National Highway-8 falling in Najafgarh Zone.
With today's sealing, the total number of units sealed by the MCD since the drive resumed in November on the order of the Supreme Court is 3146.
Meanwhile, Member of the MCD Standing Committee and secretary of the Delhi BJP, Vijender Gupta today alleged that the September 22 notification by the centre was a tool to ''misguide people'' and additional construction could not be regularised according to the notification.
He said benefit of the notification could not be available to properties where number of dwelling units had increased since the notification stipulates that if the number of dwelling units prescribed in the May 15, 1995 notification have increased, then the constructions could not be regularised till the MCD or local bodies augment the services plan of the area and upgrade the civil services.
Further, Mr Gupta said the September 22 notification was meant for residential areas only and properties on roads declared as mixed land use or commercial have not been mentioned in the notification.
As such benefit of regularisation will not be available to such properties and additional contruction carried out in these properties will be under unauthorised category and sealing action could be taken against them as at present.
Mr Gupta said in the notification, there was no mention of such small plots where contruction has been carried out after malgamation. For example, if someone has constructed a house on two plots of 25 sq m each then it will not be covered under the notification and will remain under the unauthorised category since there is no mention of such provision in the notification.
He said DDA flats had not been mentioned in the notification though in 90 per cent of DDA flats, additional construction has been carried out. Hence, owners of DDA flats will be deprived of benefit of regularisation under the notification, he said and demanded that the Centre make necessary amendments in the notification before notifying the new building bye-laws.
