Volvo coach service to connect MP tourist centres

New Delhi, Dec 12 (UNI) Volvo coach services connecting various tourist destinations of Madhya Pradesh will be started soon to give a fillip to tourism in the state and improve connectivity to these places.

An MoU to this effect was signed here today between the MP State Tourism Development Corporation(MPSTDC) and Raj Travels, Mumbai, the operator of the luxury coach service.

The MoU was signed by MPSTDC Managing Director Ashwani Lohani and Raj Travels Chairman Lalit Sheth in the presence of Madhya Pradesh Minister for Tourism Yashodhara Raje Scindia.

The Minister said special thrust would be given to sectors like Gwalior, Jabalpur, Indore and Bhopal, all of which will be gateway cities of the State.

Initially, eight routes have been selected on which Volvo buses will be running. These are Bhopal-Jabalpur-Bhopal, Indore-Jabalpur-Indore, Jhansi-Khajuraho-Jhansi, Bhopal-Gwalior-Bhopal, Indore-Gwalior-Indore, Jabalpur-Kanha-Jabalpur, Bhopal-Sanchi-Bhopal and Indore-Ratlam-Indore.

As per the MoU, the operator will maintain and operate coaches.

He will also be fully responsible for obtaining the necessary permits and permissions required for the services. The Volvo coaches will start and terminate from various MPSTDC hotels.

The Corporation will earn a 10 per cent commission on all tickets sold.
