Trends give BJP upperhand in Gram Panchayat polls

Surat, Dec 12 (UNI) The BJP was leading in the local body elections to the various Gram Panchayats in South Gujarat, initial trends indicated.

Out of the total 578 Grama Panchayats in Surat district, the results for only 118 Grama Panchayats have been announced till this evening, Surat District Election Office informed.

The counting of votes began quite late today and a final picture is expected tonight, district election office sources said.
