Tension prevails over shooting of Periyar film
Kancheepuram, Tamil Nadu, Dec 12 (UNI) Confusion prevailed over shooting of the film 'Periyar Vazkai Varalaru', a biography of the Tamil rationalist leader Periyar E V Ramasamy, when the crew, who were shooting at Varadaraja Perumal temple here were asked to pack up as the permission from HR&CE had not reached the authorities concerned.
Police said the misunderstanding occurred earlier when the DSP Muniappan asked them to pack up and clear the premises, as the permission for shooting had not reached them. The crew met the District Collector Pradeep Yadav and District Police Superintendent A Amalraj and explained to them that the permission to shoot the film, which they had sought two days earlier from HR&CE would reach them soon.
The film director Gnanasekaran and actor Satyaraj, among others, were allowed to shoot from 1530 hrs for three hours when the fax message reached from Chennai to go ahead with the shooting. About 50 volunteers from Hindu Munnani Katchi, BJP and RSS volunteers shouted ''Jai Kali'' before the temple premises.
