Sri Lankan detained for holding Indian passport
Chennai, Dec 12 (UNI) A 42-year old Sri Lankan National was detained by the Immigration authorities at the Anna International airport here today, as he had landed with Indian passport.
Official sources said the Sri Lankan Sivanathan alaias Sivaloganathan, hailing from Jaffna, came here as a refugee seven years ago. He got married to a woman from suburban Pammal and obtained the Indian passport subsequently. He used to shuttle between Sri Lanka and here, while his wife and two daughters reside at Pammal.
The immigration authorities, however, found that the Sri Lankan had not obtained the Indian passport properly. After consulting with their higher-ups,, the Immigration authorities had decided to deport the Sri Lankan to his country tonight, the sources added.
