Semifinal line-up complete in Nargis tourney

Lucknow, Dec 12 (UNI) UP Timber will clash against UP Women's Cricket club and Eastern Railway will take on Aligarh Cricket club in the semifinals of the 10th All India Nargis Dutt Memorial Women Cricket championship here tomorrow.

In the last league matches of the tournament today, UP Timber beat Aligarh Cricket club by 98 runs and Eastern Railway crushed UP Women's cricket club (UPWCC) in a one-sided match by 10 wickets.

On the basis of the points tally, both the losing teams ended up entering the semi finals.

UP Timber women scored 173 runs for the loss of six wickets, with Shiva (35) top scoring for them and Tanuja chipped in with 24 runs. For the Aligarh team, Naina Verma claimed two wickets, giving away 32 runs.

In reply, the Aligarh team could muster only 75 runs, losing their wickets to Apoorva, who scalped three wickets, conceding only four runs. Parul, Priyanka and Reena took two wickets each, giving away 15, 8 and 12 runs respectively.

In the other match at B B D stadium, Eastern Railway thrashed UPWCC by 10 wickets.

Batting first, UPWCC could manage only 28 runs with none of their players succeeding to reach double figures. In fact six of them did not open their account.

Skipper Seema Desai claimed three wickets, while Bobby Dutta and Mansi took took two wickets each. Chasing 29 for a victory, openers Seema Singh and Bobby Dutta completed the formalities in only 4.5 overs.
