Security alert b/w NJP, New Bangaigaon stations
Siliguri (West Bengal), Dec 12: Security arrangements have been beefed up at the railway stations between New Jalpaiguri and New Bangaigaon (Assam) after receiving threat alerts.
The railway police and Northeast Frontier railway authority got the information from Home Ministry last night. Upon getting the information all the railway stations between NJP and New Bangaigaon were alerted.
Superintendent of Railway Police Mahendra Sing Punia told sources that they got a letter from the home ministry mentioning that United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA) could target any of the railway stations in that region.
''So we have already taken all the precautionary measures,'' the SRP said.
He also said after the Belacoba railway blast the RPF have also been kept on alert. He added, though there was no specification on the threat, security arrangements were beefed at every railway station.
Mr Punia said, "Metal detectors were being installed and two sniffer dogs have been deployed there. We are using door metal also to look for the explosives."
