Schoolboy commits suicide in city

Chennai, Dec 12 (UNI) A 14-year old school boy allegedly commited suicide by hanging himself at his hostel room at Nandanam in the city today.

Police said the boy, Manikandan hailing from suburban Manali, studied in Standard IX and resided in the YMCA school hostel. He was caught red handed when he was indulging in malpractice in the ongoing half-yearly examination today.

The Invigilator handed over the boy to the Head of the school and the boy was asked to bring his parents.

The boy went to his hostel room and hanged himself, fearing the wrath of his parents, police said.

Later some of his roommates went to the room and informed the matter to the school authorities.
