SC asks central government for response in soft drinks majors cas
New Delhi, Dec 12 (UNI) The Supreme Court today granted four week's time to the Union Government to file its response to a PIL seeking directions to the two soft drinks majors -Pepsi and Coco-Cola-- to display the ingredients of their products on the bottles.
A bench comprising Justices G P Mathur and Lokeshwar Singh Panta, however, asked the petitioner, ''how long we shall keep on hearing such PILs and why the people should not boycott such products like Mahatama Gandhi did as soft drink is not indispensable like water.'' The court also directed the government to file reply to the application for impleadment filed by Centre For Science Education by January 15, 2007.
The court adjourned the hearing of the case till the first week of February and issued notices on the application for impleadment.
