Rs.1200 cr for electrification in Maoist dominated W Midnapur
Midnapur, Dec 12 (UNI) West Bengal Power Minister Mrinal Kanti Banerjee today said that Rs 1200 crore has been earmarked for rural electrification of West Midnapur district.
After a reviewing meeting with senior officials of WBSEB, Power Grid Corporation, NTPC and other agencies, Banerjee said there still 2100 mouzas of out 3500 mouzas remained uncovered in the district.
He also admitted that even after this huge investment, about 335 Mouzas will still have no electricity till 2007.
He announced a special project in which 4500 houses belongings to tribal people of Belpahari, Salboni, Goaltore and Lalgarh will be given solar light connections.
He said the government was taking stringent measure to stop hooking and more than 1000 people have been arrested and several crores of rupees have been recovered from them.
