Parents leave son to die in captivity
Jamshedpur, Dec 12: A seventeen-year-old boy was allegedly left to die in a locked room by his parents in Sonari area of the steel city.
The boy, Abhishek Das, is mentally deranged.
According to a neighbour, the father of the boy K K Das and his second wife and their two daughters left the house about a week ago, leaving the boy on his own fate in the locked room, where he was kept in captivity for the last five years.
The boy had gone into depression after his mother and the first wife of Mr Das had reportedly committed suicide five years back.
Mr Das got married for the second time three years back and started neglecting the boy. His condition went from bad to worse with each passing day as he faced regular negligence, ill-treatment and humiliation.
The family members left the house all of a sudden a few days back without even informing the neighbours, who took notice of the plight of the captivated boy as he started moaning in pain from starvation and thirst.
One of the neighbours informed the local police station and the boy was provided with food and water.
The police, who visited the house yesterday, said a case was lodged and they were trying to locate the family.
