Nedumaran seeks judicial inquiry into statue desecration
Chennai, Dec 12 (UNI) Tamil National Movement leader P Nedumaran today sought a judicial inquiry into the desecration of the statue of rationalist leader Periyar E V Ramasamy at Srirangam last week.
Alleging that there was a conspiracy behind the desecration, Mr Nedumaran, in a statement here, demanded that the government order a probe and bring to light the facts.
He said though the DMK governmenment had arrested Periyar Dravidar Kazhagam activists under the National Security Act for protesting against the desecration of the statue, it was hesitant to take action against people like Dayananda Saraswathi and Hindu Munnani leader Ramagopalan.
He condemned the government for not taking action against the two leaders, whom he alleged were the chief conspirators in the statue desecration incident.
