Mummified body found in Himachal Pradesh village
New Delhi, Dec 12 (UNI) The mummified body of a Lama was found near Giu village in Himachal Pradesh, and it is in the possession of local villagers, the government informed the Rajya Sabha today.
In a written reply in the Rajya Sabha, Tourism and Culture Minister Ambika Soni said the buried body, dried in arid climate, was a chance find in 1983 near the village of Giu, Spiti-sub division in Lahaul and Spiti district of the state.
Ms Soni said the body is presently under the physical possession of the local villagers.
''This matter does not come under the purview of the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), she said, replying to a query.
