Kurukshetra district leads in paddy production in Haryana
Chandigarh, Dec 12 (UNI) Kurukshetra district in Haryana is leading in paddy arrival with about 7.31 lakh metric tonnes having arrived in the mandis so far.
While stating this here today, Deputy Chief Minister Chander Mohan said so far 39.84 lakh metric tonnes of paddy had arrived in the mandis across the state.
After Kurushetra district, Karnal with about 5.70 lakh metric tonnes was at the second spot while Kaithal with 5.04 lakh metric tonnes occupies the third place. In Fatehabad district the arrival figure was 4.97 lakh metric tonnes and in Ambala it was 3.22 lakh metric tonnes.
He said that out of the total paddy arrival, over 20.44 lakh metric tonnes of paddy had been procured by six government agencies at the Minimum Support Price and the remaining 19.40 lakh metric tonnes had been purchased by the private millers and traders, which included 8.21 lakh metric tonnes of leviable and 11.18 lakh metric tonnes of non-leviable paddy.
