Intl Scientific convention from December 23-25
Mumbai, Dec 12: A three-day International Scientific Convention ''Innovation, Creativity and Enterprise'' will be commenced from December 23 at the Institute of Chemical Technology (ICT), Matunga, here.
The convention is being organised by University of Mumbai in its Sesquicentennial year along with it's Institute of Chemical Technology (MUICT) and Indian National Science Academy (INSA).
Speaking on the occasion, Vice Chancellor, Mumbai University Professor Vijay Khole said,''These functions will have a substantial bearing on the science and technology scene in our country. India is on the threshold of the technological transformation as a result of the efforts of many scientists.
Over 150 eminent scientists will gather under one roof of the ICT as a part of the 72nd Anniversary General Meeting of INSA which is being held here after a gap of 50 years.
Also, the first Dhirubhai Ambani Lifetime Achievement Award jointly promoted by UDCT Alumni Association (UAA) and Reliance Industries Limited which carries a purse of US 20,000 dollar and a citation and is the highest award for Scientific Achievements given by an Indian entity will be presented to Professor George Whitesides of Harward University, USA for his innovative and Outstanding Contributions to Chemical Sciences on December 23.
Professor George Whitesides will deliver a key note address.
Scientists and educators including Padma Vibhushan Professor C N R Rao, Padma Vibhushan Professor M M Sharma, Padma Bhushan Dr R A Mashelkar and entrepreuners like Mukesh Ambani, Dr K H Gharda and Management gurus like Profesor Anil Gupta will deliver keynote addressess at the Convention.
A short documentary film on the life of Padma Vibhushan Professor M M Sharma who has been a driving force of Chemical Engineering in India and also India's most decorated Chemical Engineer will be released as a part of the function. The function is organised by UDCT Alumni Association and Institute of Chemical Technology.
