India's dismal show continues in Sepaktakraw
Doha, Dec 12 (UNI) There seems no end to India's woes in Sepaktakraw as the team showed no signs of improvement and continued with their losing streak in the Asian games here today.
The men's doubles team received a thrashing from Thailand in the league match.
The Indian pair of Surjit Singh and Kiran Kumar were drubbed 11-21, 12-21 in a group-B league match at the Al Sadd Indoor Hall.
After this defeat, India were lying at the bottom of the table having failed to secure a single point so far following three successive losses in the league matches.
After the game, team manager D Srinivas said the Indians should have won the match as Thailand had not fielded their strongest players.
''The Thailand team did not send their strongest players. They sent their junior team. Still we could not win,'' he said adding, ''We hardly participate in international meets. We tried our best, but could not win.'' The women's team -- comprising Meri Devi and Rajeshwari Devi -- also suffered an embarrassing 0-2 defeat at the hands of Korea. The Korean duo of Yu Yeong Sim and Kim Mi Jeong carved out a comfortable 21-14, 21-8 victory in the group match.
The Indian women's team completed their group league engagements at the bottom of the table, failing to earn a single point by losing all the three matches.
