Govt to bring bill in Parliament to regularise private detectives

New Delhi, Dec 12 (UNI)The government is likely to introduce the Private Security Detectives Bills in the next session of Parliament to regularise the operation of private detective agencies in the country.

Responding to queries, Home Minister Shivraj Patil said the draft of the proposed bill was already with the Law Ministry for examination and was likely to get finishing touches soon.

The proposed bill seeks to make detective agencies accountable and adherent to rules and regulations of the State, Mr Patil said adding, till date there was no law to govern and regularise the functioning of the private detective agencies, proliferating at a fast rate.

After the passage of the proposed bill, every detective agency has to procure a licence for operation and it could be withdrawn once the same agency was found delinquent on the mandatory guidelines, he said.

The ongoing sting operations and other exposures by the electronic media and other mode of communication would also be covered under the bill, Mr Patil said.
