Former AIADMK MLA Kavinilavu Dharmaraj passes away

Chennai, Dec 12 (UNI) Former AIADMK legislator Kavinilavu Dharmaraj died at Erode last night following brief illness.

She was 48. She is survived by two daughters and a son.

Ms Dharmaraj had represented Modakurichi Assembly constituency during 1991-96, when AIADMK General Secretary J Jayalalithaa assumed the office of Chief Minister for the first time.

She also held various party positions and was the AIADMK's star platform speaker in Erode district.

Recalling Ms Dharmaraj's effective campaigns for the party, Ms Jayalalithaa expressed grief at her demise and offered condolences to the bereaved family.

The funeral was held at Dharmaraj's native place at Modakurichi in Erode district this evening.
