Delayed Tillari Project now on right track:Soz
New Delhi, Dec 12 (UNI) Union Minister for Water Resources Saifuddin Soz today told the Rajya Sabha that the Tillary project being jointly executed by Maharashtra and Goa was on the right track and would be completed in 2009.
As for the delay in the project, he said the Water Resources Ministry could not explain it as the execution of the project fell under the states' jurisdiction.
Replying to a supplementary, he said as reported by the Maharashtra Government, all the project affected persons had been rehabilitated, and there was no dispute between the two states over rehabilitation.
Mr Soz said the total irrigable command area of the project was 6676 hectares in Maharashtra and 14521 for Goa, and the area under cultivation in the two states was 87.50 and 446, respectively.
