Court grants bail to Alistair Perreira
Mumbai, Dec 12 (UNI) A local court today granted bail to Alistair Anthony Pareira, who was arrested last week on the charge of producing fake documents to the Regional Transport Office (RTO) to procure a motor driving licence.
Alistair, son of a businessman who was arrested by the Oshiwara Police, is in judicial custody. He has been granted bail on a bond of Rs 15,000 by the Andheri Metropolitan Magistrate here.
Alistair had allegedly produced the fake documents when he was 15 years old to get the driving licence.
On November 12, the car driven by Alistair ran over 15 pavement dwellers, who were sleeping along on Carter road in suburban Bandra.
Of them, seven were killed on the spot while eight others received serious injuries.
The Bombay High Court on December one had granted bail to Alistair on a personal bond of Rs 25,000 and compensation amounting to Rs 3.5 lakh, to be paid to the deceased and the injured in the accident.
