CM assures repatriation of non-locals, TRS stage walkout

Hyderabad, Dec 12 (UNI) The opposition Telangana Rashtra Samiti today staged a walkout from the Andhra Pradesh state assembly in protest against the delay in implementation of the Presidential order and Government Order 610.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy announced in the Assembly constitution of a non-official committee within a week for repatriation of non-locals in employment in the Telangana region.

Making it clear that Hyderabad was not a ''free zone'' in the matter of employment, the Chief Minister asserted that his Government would not hesitate to send back non-locals to their original cadre.

The Government was committed to implement the Girgilani Committee report, he said adding that the government took four months time to obtain legal opinion following the contention of Coastal Andhra leaders that Hyderabad was a free zone.

Stating that 3,000 people were identified as from outside the Hyderabad zone in the Police Department, he said ''repatriation cannot be done overnight.'' Training was being provided to new recruits and once they were ready to replace those who had come on deputation, the repatriation would be done. Fifty per cent of them were from other Telangana districts, the Chief Minister added.

Informing the House that a committee headed by the Chief Secretary was in the process of collecting information from various departments on employees from other areas, he said the Government would make a statement on the implementation of the 610 GO on December 18.

Dissatisfied with the Government's stand, TRS floor leader K Vijayarama Rao led his members out.

Doubting the Congress Government's sincerity in implementing the Order, the TRS leader questioned the Government as to why it had not formed so far the non-official committee as recommended by the Girgilani Committee.

Leader of Opposition N Chandrababu Naidu and other opposition party leaders wanted the government to constitute a committee of all floor leaders to ensure implementation of the GO.
