Change of name will make no difference: BJP

Dehra Dun, Dec 12: Not taking kindly to the change of state's name from Uttaranchal to Uttarakhand, Uttaranchal unit of Bharatiya Janata Party today said it would by no means going to make any difference to the 'pathetic' condition of the state.

''Neither it is going to improve employment situation nor reduce prices of commodities or improve deteriorating law and order situation in the state under Congress Government,'' said BJP State General Secretary and MLA Ajay Bhatt to the media. He said the situation in the state has worsened to the extent that three murders and three rapes were taking place everyday on an average in the State.

Unemployment situation in the state too was worsening in the state with less than 12,000 youths getting employment so far as against 4 lakh registered unemployed in five years in the state, he said, adding that the back door employment was rampant.

''Congress Government is playing with the sentiments and the future of the youths as various industrial units set up in the state are still keeping the workers on contract basis defying conditions to provide 70 percent job to locals thus proving Government's claim false,'' Mr. Bhatt said.

He said the corruption has permeated in the system with 300 persons conferred Red Beacon (State Minister status). ''The expenditure of their petrol money amounted to Rs 5000 crore, and process of allotting Red Beacons is still on'' he said.

He demanded that the Congress Government make public the lists of these ministers and their work and achievements. Mr. Bhatt said in its tenure Congress Ministers including Chief Minister have laid foundation stones worth Rs.10 crore all over the state, however, their works were still pending. Lambasting Congress Government for its 'extravagant' way in wasting public exchequer, BJP General Secretary said that it has spent Rs. 5 crore just for the hoarding to advertise its 'false' achievements.

He said the Chief Minister in a bid to woo voters was making announcements so many that its fulfillment was not possible even in 25 years. ''Congress is not realising that voters are going to depose it from the power within coming two or three months,'' he said.
