Chandumajra holds talks with Mayawati for poll alliance

Fatehgarh Sahib, Dec 12 (UNI) Shiromani Akali Dal (Longowal) president Prem Singh Chandumajra today said that he has offered a seat sharing formula to Bahujan Samaj Party(BSP) for forthcoming Punjab Assembly elections.

Talking to mediapersons here, he said that he was making all efforts to form a third front in Punjab and wanted to include BSP in it. He said he had already met BSP national president Mayawati to pursue her to join this front.

He said Ms Mayawati has deputed BSP national general secretary Narinder Kashyap, who is also in-charge of BSP Punjab affairs, to discuss the issue.

He said as per his offer, the BSP will contest on 50 seats, while the Left parties and the Lok Bhalai party 30 seats and the 'panthic' groups will contest the remaining 37 seats.

He said that Panthic organisations include SAD (Longowal), Simranjit Singh Mann led SAD(Amritsar) and Ravi Inder Singh led SAD.

He said the third front was for the defeat of the Congress as well as the SAD-BJP alliance.

He ruled out a patch up with the SAD led by Mr Parkash Singh Badal. Mr Badal had deviated from the traditional policies and programmes of the Akalis, he claimed.
