Chamling plans to invite Mohammad Yunus in Sikkim
Gangtok,Dec 12 (UNI) Sikkim Chief Minister Pawan Chamling today said he was actively thinking to invite Nobel Laureate Mohammad Yunus of Bangaldesh to visit here and have his ideas regarding launching of rural banking for poor farmers of this hilly state.
Mr Chamling who claimed himself as leader of the "barefooted people" said this while observing his Sikkim Democratic Front's 12th year in government.
Mr Chamliing also known as "Mr Green" for his championing the cause of ecological balance in this earthquake prone state, said the Bangladesh's economist could help in evolving ideas of simple banking as his government was sincerely planning to launch "Green Bank" for rural people.
Mr Chamling, earlier introduced "Green Mission " in a bid to add more greenery to the state's biodiversity.
He also announced to privatise the state owned Public Sector Undertakings for their better management and said an independent expert committee would be set up to finalise the details.
