BSF seizes heroin on Indo-Pak border in Punjab

New Delhi, Dec 12 (UNI) The Border Security Force (BSF) have foiled a bid to smuggle drugs through the Pakistan-India border with the seizure of three packets of heroin near Faridkot district.

The seizure took place at 0130 hours early today when some persons, who were trying to smuggle heroin from accross the border near Faridkot, abandoned the contraband due to presence of a BSF naka at the time.

While one packet was recovered from the fence on the Indian side of the border, further search led to recovery of two more packets of heroin and a Chinese pistol loaded with four rounds on the other side of the border, a BSF spokesperson said.

This was the second attempt in the last one week to smuggle heroin from the neighbouring country and fifth major attempt of smuggling of narcotics foiled by the BSF, this year.

Earlier, on December 5, BSF had foiled a major attempt to smuggle heroin in large quantity and had recovered 10 Kg of heroin and killed one unidentified smuggler on the boder under Ferozpur sector.
