BJP serves notice for disc on Indo-US Nuke deal

New Delhi, Dec 12: Asserting that External Affairs Minister Pranab Kumar Mukherjee's statement on Indo-US Nuclear deal was not at all 'satisfactory', the BJP today said it had served a notice to Lok Sabha Speaker to allow discussion under rule 184 entailing voting in the House.

BJP Parliamentary Party Spokesman Vijay Kumar Malhotra said that the party had served another notice under rule 193 of the Parliamentary Procedures.

The BJP, he said, had seen the reactions of the Communist Parties and its Left allies on the Indo-US Nuclear deal and did not want to know which way they would vote in the House when it comes for voting.

"As far as BJP is concerned, it would want to take it to the logical end," Mr Malhotra said, adding, "they may take the usual line -- supporting a wrong move to keep BJP out of power." The BJP Spokesman said the Parliamentary Party, which met this morning expressed concern about India sought to be brought into the conditionalities of CTBT and the NPT though it was not a signatory. He said top scientists of the country had expressed their concern about the deal and it was time for India to dump the nuclear deal which was not in the national security interests.
